Some lessons shouldn’t be learned the hard way.

There are always fads that come and go, and it’s usually ok to let people learn from their mistakes. Some mistakes, though… are too harmful for trial and error… and the waist trainer is one of them.

I care. Sometimes, too much.

There are a lot of different diet fads and fitness fads that fly around from time to time. Everyone is always looking for the quick fix… the magic button… the easy answer. Most of them, honestly, are relatively harmless. The worst thing that’ll happen as a result of trial and error, in most cases, is bouncing back and regaining the weight you lost. Well, that and a modest sum of wasted time and money.

Sometimes, though, more is on the line.

While most fitness and diet fads are relatively harmless, some can land you in real hot water. Not everything is safe to try at home, by yourself, unsupervised and unguided. Oftentimes people simply don’t realize the damage they can do to their own body. Unfortunately, one of today’s popular fitness trends is a failed experiment of the past brought back to life.

Waist Training is a thing again. And it needs to die.

Specifically, it needs to die before a PERSON dies. For those who may not be familiar, “waist training” is the use of a piece of clothing like a corset or waist cincher to squeeze your waist, shape your body, and “train” it to remain that way without the corset/waist cincher. Problem is, that’s basically the same thing as wrapping an ace bandage around your upper arm for several hours a day several days a week expecting your “bat wing” underarm wiggly jigglys to go away – it simply doesn’t work like that. The difference between those two situations is the damage you can do to your body. That ACE bandage is simply going to leave an indent that’s gone in an hour or so… but the waist trainer… that can cause real, lasting damage to your body. Today, at length, I talk about the purported benefits and the real dangers of waist training… and ask you to let this dangerous quackery fade away like it did once before.
