Fact has become clouded by fandom.
People are REALLY in love with keto. This diet fad has reached really pretty epic proportions. People will tell you how great it is, how much weight they’ve lost by doing it, and how YOU should TOTALLY do it. What you don’t often hear… are facts. It can be tough to sift through the noise and learn what the Ketogenic Diet actually is and how it works. When you try to find the facts, and offer up that perhaps it’s not as simple as “burn fat for fuel, lose tons of weight”… people get defensive – angry, even! This contention and hot-button nature of the topic is why I’ve held off on talking about it for so long. But this silly celebrity feud between Al Roker (for) and Jillian Michaels (against), and the new wave of publicity Keto is getting has finally nudged me to do it.
We need to actually UNDERSTAND keto.
In this episode, I talk about how my new year has started off, and why it’s important to get some sort of a plan to keep you moving. Then, I break down the feud between Al Roker and Jillian Michaels over keto, discussing the feud and both sides. Then we have a REAL discussion about fat, protein, carbs, and what your body does with them.
